I've kinda felt it creeping up on me now for some time now and here it is. I'm no longer dividing my support. Its all Edwards and its a great feeling.
And allow me to quickly add, Gore fans, that I'm with you on this: the delicious thought of Gore summarily crushing the Bush-party candidate will always tickle me. He is a man engaged in his own fight, and if he only succeeds in that - then he will have achieved more than anyone can reasonably expect from someone else. So if he doesn't want this particular fight, thats his choice.
To all you still holding out (and back), like I was, scanning the headlines for some orangey glimmer of hope, like I used to, waiting for that elusive grail Headline - Breaking: The Gore Run Is On - I'm sorry, but I think you should consider letting it go. It feels good to let go - it revitalized me. And unless you do, you can never fully comprehend the warmth and fuzziness you feel when you commit yourself wholly and completely to one candidate <easy, you're gushing now>.
Let's face it - Nobody wants two husbands, you spend most of your time with one anyway, and then, when you every once in a while leave him for another man, you just end of disappointed that he isn't living up to your expectations. Gore drains you, distracts you and holds you back. Its OK to let go.
Edwards is an actual candidate running for the office of the Presidency. He proves his commitment to that goal every day. You can judge for yourself the strength of his ideas because he puts them all out there, laying them bare. He displays his mettle on the campaign trail, the Fighting For One America tour <who does that>, and through speeches with ordinary folk held in somebody's garage. The more I see of him, the more I connect with him, and the more others connect to him.
He rises above the other candidates because he is in charge of the message - it is his genuine voice. I'm confident he's in charge and calling the shots and his leadership defines him on the campaign trail. He is the man on a mission in New Orleans, more so than any other candidate, raising issues of national concern and shame. Nobody wants to deal with poverty <its depressing> - what other candidate talks about it? After listening to video clips and reading posts on his website - I've shed my usual cynicism of politick-speak and ulterior motives.
The Edwards message is a clear and powerful: bringing us back together as a country built on democratic institutions and values - that is more urgently needed now more than ever - and Yes, He Can Win.
